Why should I keep going to the chiropractor when I don’t hurt?
You "threw" your back out, went to the chiropractor, you feel better and now they are recommending coming in for adjustments even though you don't hurt... what gives?
The truth is that there are many types of chiropractic care with many different goals. The three main types of chiropractic care are what we call acute care, corrective care, and wellness care. The first type of chiropractic care - acute care - occurs when you have a short-term problem, and you get adjusted to get out of pain. This type of care is sort of like an expensive Advil because while it may help you "get out of pain," it does nothing to correct the source of the problem only provide a temporary Band-Aid.
The next type of chiropractic care is called corrective care which is a more intensive care with a higher number and higher frequency of adjustments. The goal of corrective care (and what our office specializes in) is to find the underlying cause and work to correct those areas of the spine that are not "functioning" at 100%. This type of care focuses greatly on the nervous system and how well it can get "good nerve energy" in and out of your body through the spinal cord and nerves.
The last type of chiropractic care and our favorite is wellness care - in our office we call it our vitality plan. This is the time in care where you are feeling great and want to keep your spine moving so your nerves can fire at tiptop shape. Most of our practice members come in for vitality care to keep their nervous system working in the best possible condition.
